Flattr: new micropayments system from Pirate Bay co-founder Peter Sunde Boing Boing

Also :http://flattr.com/beta/

a Great new idea from the founder of pirate bay makes supporting your favorite apps/e-books/musicians/everyone much much easier

watch the video at either site for a full representation but the basics are this

if you’re a creator, you put a “flatter” clickable button on your site

then consumers, pay a FLAT monthly rate,  they click on the buttons of everyone they want to support, and that same flat monthly rate gets divided between everyone they clicked on.  So for example, lets say I’m pay $5/mo and I click on 10 people  those people would each get 50 cents a month, from me,  if I click on more people, it gets further divided.

The idea here is that a million tiny raindrops eventually make a river.  sure you may only get 2 cents from a given person,  but it’s a DIRECT 2 cents from your consumers out of their love, and it’s VERY accessible ,lots of people are going to be willing to use the service, because from the consumer end, it’s one flat rate, no matter how many products you support.
