Common Kitchen Myths

Because I'm bored, I'm digging up an old link
Kitchen Myths Is a handy little page full of "facts" that aren't true

things tha "everybody knows" that are actually false.

for instance, baking soda, does nothing, I repeat NOTHING about the smell of a refrigerator.

Not all thickening agents are created equal, Flour, Cornstarch, arrowroot, etc. all have different properties, some are better at thickening than others, some leave more taste behind than oters.

Alcohol when added to a recipie does NOT burn completely away in most cases.

there are quite a few more on the site linked above, including myths about microwave cooking, beans bannanas and all sorts of things.
