KDE goes cross-platform with Windows, Mac OS X support

KDE on windows,
this article discuses the move of KDE to go cross platform ,a decision that as some people upset, and other overjoyed

KDE is one of the main window/environments for Linux. Personally it's the one i prefer, it is stunningly beautiful, has a great look & feel, easy to use, and a great range of programs. Some of my favorite Linux apps are KDE based, such as Amarok ,a really well done music player.

here's the catch people are saying that by making KDE cross platform, it's taking away one more reason that could get people to switch to Linux. myself for instance Love amarok, but because of other apps i use I'm stuck on windows (temporarily I assure you). Now with KDE being ported, Amarok will run nicely on windows. this is good good new for me.

the contending argument, is that it may actually help Linux, by raising awareness about some of the great software out there. and even if people don't switch to Linux, getting them more Open Source software in general is still a good thing.
