Singapore Airlines puts a Linux PC in every seat - Network World

Singapore Airlines puts a Linux PC in every seat - Network World
Singapore airlines, will be rolling out new planes, adopting the new Airbuss (a380) line.
I blogged about these a while bag, a monstrous plane that can have 3 - 4 times the seating room as a 747 and yet is even more fuel efficient.

but there is more.

Singapore, has decided to give each passenger, their own personal computer right at the seat.

in Economy class you only get a 10.6" screen, Business class gets a 15.4" , and first class passengers will each get a 23" screen

what's really nice

these PC's will all be running red Hat Linux, Have a USB port for plugging in your own ,whatever, thumb drive, keyboard, etc. First class even gets a free pair of noise canceling headphones.

the PC's will run a cop of Star Office. also the in flight entertainment will be piped through these PC's. Very slick
