IBM will be taking about 4000 serves, offline, from 30 locations, and consolidating them, into 30 refrigerator sized mainframes, all running Linux and using virtulization.

in the process they will be saving a little over $250 million.

it's part of a initiative IBM started called Big Green, Which is aimed, essentially a more "Green" computing, cutting energy costs, which is in theory more environmentally friendly.
