House approves foreign wiretap bill - Yahoo! News

The house has voted, 227 to 183, to pass a reform of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act.

this reform makes it legal, for intelligence agencies, to wiretap phones, and other electronic communications without a warrant.

Mind you in THEORY, this is supposed to only apply to foreign nationals, so in theory... mind you... if you call grandma down the street, they can't wiretap you without a warrant, but if you call grandma vacationing in Mexico/Canada/etc. then they could.

and of course here is always the "oops" factor..

generally this is just bad news, bad policy, and warped fucking justice.
