some interesting pictures of a plane taking of from Osaka, being directly hit by a lightning bolt.

interestingly enough lightning strikes, are NOT dangerous to airplanes, as the electricity simply flows around the aluminum outer skin leaving he insides/electronics undamaged.

according to statistics, no plane has fallen due to a lightning strike in more than 40 years, even though statistically every plane gets hit a least once in it's lifetime
